How to get the exact date for google reviews? No GMB access required

If you have Google My Business, you can get the exact review dates easily from Google's review manager.

But if you don't, it's a little tricker. Google only shows "relative dates" on public review profiles – i.e. "3 days ago", "3 weeks ago", etc.

But there is a way to easily get the real review date, even without Google My Business access.

Some data providers work around that limitation with some convoluted calculations and approximations.

But it turns out Google actually does make the exact date and time of each review available. Just not in an easily accessible way.

Long story short, Google actually makes the exact date and time of each review available, but it's a little technical to access it.

The good thing is we've figured out how to do exactly that.

So when you run a review export from Reviewflowz, you get a clean Excel export of all the Google reviews with their content, reviewer name, etc. and exact review dates, as stored by Google themselves.

We charge $0.10 per review to make it a no brainer. You can download a sample of 25 rows for any google listing to double check before making your purchase.

Here's an example of what those exports looks like with the Eiffel Tower's reviews from October 2024.

Notice column J with exact timestamps (dates and times at which the reviews were posted).

The language is also included when the review has text content to make analysis easier.

The best way to get Google reviews with their exact dates if you have GMB access

If you have Google My Business access to the listings you need reviews for, you can access the exact date each review was published on, but you won't get the time at which it was published.

Head over to your business manager on https://business.google.com/reviews and you should have an exact date next to each review in the list.

And voilà!

How to get a Google review's exact date from Google My Business's API

The last way you can get exact review dates from Google reviews is to use the Google My Business API.

Specifically, the locations.reviews endpoint.

There you have it: createTime & updateTime – where createTime is the time the review was first created, adn updateTime is the latest update's datetime.

Note that updates exclude replies here, and review replies have their own timestamps. So an update only happens when the original reviewer updates their review, which in real-life is quite rare.

Although they're sent in the string format, both values are actually timestamps, so easy to convert into an exact datetime.

If you're new to the Google My Business API, know that Google grants access to the API on a case by case basis, so you'll likely need to reach out to them and make a case for why you need access to the API.
