When an order is closed and paid in Revel with a customer on it, Reviewflowz asks that customer for a review. The review that comes back is matched to the order and its establishment, and credited to the server on it.
How it works
An order is closed and paid in Revel, with a customer on it.
Within the hour, Reviewflowz reads the order, its customer and its server.
The request goes out after your delay.
The customer's review is matched to the order, the establishment and the server.
What triggers a request
Trigger | When it fires | Who is asked |
An order is closed | The order is closed and paid in Revel | The customer on the order |
The trigger is on from the moment you connect and feeds one request, Revel order closed. Orders paid only with cash, a card, a check, a gift card or EBT are asked. Delivery-app orders are never asked.
When your business or the customer is in the EU, the UK or Switzerland, a customer is asked by email, text or WhatsApp only when they opted in to marketing in Revel. Once Revel Support switches on Consumer Marketing Opt-in/out & Logging, your team sets Email and Phone/SMS to Opt In on the customer, in the management console's CRM or at the POS. Revel's guide to marketing opt-in shows the same screens.
Orders closed before you connected are imported so their reviews still match. Nobody is messaged for those.
Connect Revel Systems
You need three things: your Revel URL, and an API Key and API Secret that Revel issues for your Reviewflowz integration.
Plan. Revel sells API access for integrations as Partner Connect, a monthly add-on billed by Revel. If you don't have it yet, Revel sends you an order form to sign.
Turnaround. Revel activates a new add-on within three business days of the signed agreement, per its Operations FAQ.
Credentials. Email Revel at [email protected] and paste this:
Please send us API credentials (API Key and API Secret) for our Reviewflowz integration. Revel URL: https://yourbusiness.revelup.com. Establishments to connect: [your establishments].
If Revel will only send them to Reviewflowz, give Revel [email protected], and our support connects them to your account for you.
In Reviewflowz, open Integrations, go to the Automate Review Requests tab and click the Revel card. If you already have an integration connected there, click Connect another integration first. Fill in:
Revel URL: the address you sign in to Revel at, such as harborhearth.revelup.com.
API Key and API Secret, as Revel sent them.
Click Connect Revel. Your establishments fill the Establishments list, and a draft request is ready for you to finish.
Link your establishments to locations
Under Establishments, give each Establishment in Revel the Reviewflowz location whose review profiles its customers should see. Harbor & Hearth links its LoDo restaurant in Denver and its Pearl District restaurant in Portland to their own locations. If your Reviewflowz account has one location and Revel has one establishment, they're linked for you when you connect. Opened a new establishment in Revel? Click Refresh list and link it.
Set up the request
Timing. An order counts from its payment, and your delay comes on top. Harbor & Hearth emails 3 hours after the meal, then sends a reminder 3 days later with the subject "How was your evening at Harbor & Hearth, {{first_name}}?". Up to 3 messages, and follow-ups stop once a customer clicks, reviews or unsubscribes.
Channel. Email, SMS or WhatsApp, set per message.
Message. Harbor & Hearth's From name is "Harbor & Hearth", the Subject "Thanks for dining with us, {{first_name}}", which Avery Lindqvist reads as "Thanks for dining with us, Avery", and the Button text "Review your visit". Try yours with Send myself a test.
Direct reviews to. Smart routing gives one button, and your goal for reviews decides which site it opens. Harbor & Hearth aims for as many Google and Tripadvisor reviews as possible. Show all options on the email lists every site instead.
Turn it on
Open Revel order closed and click Turn requests on. The Syncing panel's Asking customers whose order closed after shows the day you connected.
When an order is refunded or voided
If an order is refunded, or its ticket is voided to zero, before its request goes out, the request is withdrawn.
See what it brings back
A review is credited to the server on the Revel order: the table's server, or whoever rang the order up. Zoe Sanders's 5-star Tripadvisor review of Harbor & Hearth is credited to Marisol Vega. The Team Attribution Leaderboard under Reports > Dashboard ranks Marisol Vega, Tess Calder, Rafael Ortiz and Jonah Pike by the reviews they earn.
The Requests page counts Contacts, Requests, Clicked CTA, Matched and Stopped. The CRM Integration widget tracks requests, links clicked and reviews matched from Revel.
Good to know
The Syncing panel counts closed orders with no customer email or phone. They're still kept, so a review can be matched to them by date and server.
If Revel turns off your API Key and API Secret, the card asks for a new pair. Ask Revel for one and enter it with Enter new credentials. Your establishment links and request stay as they are.
If the card says Revel refused our request, ask Revel to check that your API Key still has access to your orders. We check again every day and pick up as soon as it works.
A group with two Revel accounts connects each one.
Disconnect stops the reads and withdraws every request that hasn't gone out.
